Alumni Meet:07.07.2019
The Alumni meet of 2010-13 B.A Batch of Milagres College Kallianpur was organized on Sunday 7th July 2019 in the AV Hall of the College. The old students of 2010-13 B.A batch were taken initiative to reunion of their batch. Totally 17 alumna/alumnus were present during the occasion. Dr.Vincent Alva, Principal Milagres College presided over the programme and he interacted with the old students regarding various aspects of the college. He also instructed them to spread the benefit of the B.A course in and around their villages. He appreciated the students those who started their own business and also informed them to support the students of the college in their education. The Head of the Department of Sociology Mr. Melwin C Rego appreciated the alumni for organizing the programme. Mrs Sophia Dias, Secretary Alumni Association and Head of the Department of Hindi spoke on benefits of the Alumni association and motivated them to become a member of the association. Mr. Nagaraj one of the alumnae of the batch coined on their intention of the reunion of the batch and their motive towards the development of the college. All the students remembered their college days and shared their thoughts in the gathering. Mr. Ravinandan S T PRO of the college was the master of ceremony for the programme.
Milagres NRI Alumni Scholarships Distribution Ceremony :30.08.2019
The Milagres Alumni (NRI) scholarship distribution ceremony was held at tri-centenary hall on Friday, August 30 2019. The programme was jointly organised by Milagres College Kallianpur and Alumni Association.
Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, bishop of Udupi diocese said, “The main purpose of this scholarship is to encourage students to pursue education and stop them from dropping out due to financial constraints. Let this generous act continue. The alumni should always help their alma mater. Behind this generosity, there is effort and sacrifice. The love and sacrifice shown by the faculty of the college helps shape the future of students.”
“We should all be indebted to the society. We are benefited from the services of other people. Other people are sacrificing for us. If we donate to schools, it will make a major difference in the society. We can experience satisfaction while doing charity,” the bishop said.
Fr Dr Lawrence C D’Souza, correspondent of the college said, “We should not be selfish and should share what we have in life.” Quoting Mahatma Gandhi, he said there is enough for everyone’s need and not for greed.
He also advised students who were awarded scholarships, to help other students in future and hence continue the generosity. “Alumni are the assets of an educational institution and make their alma mater proud with their achievements. Alumni are the ambassadors. Let us think of people, who are underprivileged. Let us help them and support them to better their situation,” said Fr Lawrence.
Mahesh Shetty (alumnus 1986-87) who is the chairman of Nemus Pharmaceutical Ltd Belur and hotelier was felicitated by the institution.
“I have obtained many good things due to Milagres College. There is more competition today. Education is just not enough to lead life. Culture and thoughts are also important. One should set a goal and put honest efforts to achieve the same. Respect teachers and seniors, because they are the first well wishers,” said Mahesh Shetty.
An amount of Rs 6,41,044 was distributed as scholarship by Milagres Alumni (NRI). Around 151 students benefited from the scholarship.
Dr Vincent Alva, principal, delivered keynote address and extended the welcome.
Professor Sophia Dias, alumni secretary, Philip Furtado and other well wishers were present. Alvadore Noronha, alumni president proposed vote of thanks.
ALUMNI TEACHERS DAY PROGRAMME : 07.09.2019
Alumni association of the Milagres College Kallianpur was organized a teacher’s day programme for the alumni teachers on Saturday, 7th September 2019. This programme was basically concentrated on the students who studied in the college and became teachers. Prof Mary Ninan retired professor and Mrs Mahalaxmi retired professor was the guest of honour for the programme. Mrs Mahalaxmi in her speech she opined that the teacher and students should possess good relationship between them and teacher should understand the psychological aspects of the students which will help to solve the problems. She recollected her memories in Milagres. Prof Mary Ninan explained her experiences as a teacher in the institution. Around 65 alumni teachers were present for the programme. Many of the teachers recollected their memories. Many retired teachers were also present during the occasion. They were all entertained with the games and other activities. Final year students arranged the programme with the beautiful decorations.
MILAGRES PREMIER LEAGUE 2019 : 21.12.2019
Milagres College Alumni Association ® Kallianpur organized the Milagres Premier League, a Volleyball tournamnent, sponsored by Mr Nigel Fernandes & Family Kallianpur to the present and Alumni students of the college on Saturday, December 21 at College ground. Very Rev Dr. Lawrence C D’Souza, Correspondent of Milagres Educational Institutions presided over the ceremony. Prof Clement D`Souza, Ex Physical Director, Milagres College Kallianpur inaugurated the tournament by cutting the ribbon of the court. Mr Sathyajith Shetty, Foremr University Volleyball Team Captain inaugurated the Volleball tournament by playing the volleyball. Mr Ronald Rajesh Lewis inaugurated the game by tossing for the welcome match. During this occassion Prof Joseph Peter Fernandes, Department of Chemistry Milagres College Kallianpur and Ms Vinutha G Palan, a rank holder was felicitated. There were eight teams participated in the tournament. The teams Kemmannites, Firefox, Mi`Lagre Strikers, MCK-93 Charmers, Milagres Spikers and Dias Panthers owned by Alumni of the college, Mr Thomos D`Souza, Mr Allen lewis, Mr Wilson D`Sa, 1993 B.Sc Friends, Mr Sathyajith Shetty and Mr Augustine Dias respectively played for the title. Firefox A and B, the girls team were also played which was owned by Mr Sunil and Mrs Kavitha.Dr Vincent Alva, Principal Milagres College Kallianpur said Alumni one of the ambassadors of the college and they are indeed backbone of any institutions. This tournamnet will motivate the students towards the importance of the sports and sportsmenship. The prize distribution ceremony held at college ground for the winners of the Milagres Premier League Volley Ball Tournament. Mr Ravindra Rai M, Regional Head, Bank of Baroda was the guest of honor for the programme. Kemmannites won the Championship. There were eight teams participated in the tournament. Ms Rosalia Cardoza, Department of English compered the programme.
ALUMNI SPORTS PERSONS MEET: 21.12.2019
Milagres College Alumni Association ® Kallianpur organized the felicitation ceremony for Augustine Dias, Retired Physical Director on Saturday, December 21 at College Quadrangle. Very Rev Dr. Lawrence C D’Souza, Correspondent of Milagres Educational Institutions presided over the ceremony.
The programme started with invocation. Salvadore Noronha President of Milagres College Alumni Association welcomed the gatherings. Mr Jayaprakash Shetty Chairman and M. D. Shambuji Group, Mumbai was the chief guest. Ravindra Rai Regional General Manager of Bank of Baroda was the guest of honour. Dr. Vincent Alva, Principal of Milagres College spoke his keynote address. He said Alumni one of the ambassadors of the college and they are indeed backbone of any institutions. Under the stewardship of Milagres College Alumni Association, we started to distribute scholarships for the students; it was possible to give scholarships of several lakhs of amount for the very needy and other students. We do not need the donations; in fact we need the good heart from the alumnus for the college.
Mr Augustine Dias was felicitated by the Very Rev Dr. Lawrence C D’Souza and other guests on the dais. After felicitation, Augustine Dias gave gratitude to all concerned and said that it was possible to shine our students not only in university level but also in national level also. He remembered some of the sportsmen who gave their contribution to college name and fame. He gave gratitude to some of the old students and also gave gratitude to all concerned for the felicitation programme.
In his chief guest address Jayaprakash Shetty said it is one of the historical event of the alumnus of the college which began to get chance to get together of alumnus of the college since several years. There should need to unite the alma mater in order to give their good heart for the college. We are the product of the college. We have to role to play for the college. Whatever we have today, that because of this urban prestigious college.
One of the alumni of the college, Bhaskar Nayak handed over Rs 5 lacs cheque to Department of Chemistry Laboratory for the uplift of the laboratory to Head of Chemistry Department Prof. Joseph Fernandes and Rev Dr. Anil Prakash Castelino.
Alumni Nagaraj and guest of honor Ravindra Rai spoke during the occasion and appreciated the college for its performance.
Very Rev Dr. Lawrence C D’Souza gave his presidential address and gave gratitude to all concerned for the successful event which organized by the alumni of the college.
Joyce Lewis Joint Secretary of Milagres College Alumni Association proposed vote of thanks. Sandeep Shetty compered the programme. Shekar Gujjarbettu Vice President of Alumni Association gave his performance of entertainment for the gathering with beautiful hit songs. Jovita Fernandes, alumni also sang the songs. The fellowship meal was served to all the participants. Large numbers of alumnus were participated during the event.

Milagres College Kallianpur: Alumni Day celebration of the Milagres College, Kallianpur was held on Saturday, March 7, at Milagres Tri-centenary Hall, Kallianpur. Very Rev Fr. Dr. Lawrence C D’Souza Correspondent of Milagres Institutions was presided over the programme. Umesh Shetty Alumnus 1995 B A Batch, President of Karavali Credit Cooperative Society, Santhekatte, Mrs. Bharathi S Suvarna, Alumna of 1981 B A Batch, Rtd. Senior Accountant, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India and Mrs Prakashini Anand, Alumna 1986 B A Batch, Senior English Teacher, Government High School, Tenkanidiyoor were the guests. Dr. Vincent Alva Principal of Milagres College spoke on the various achievements of the college as well as the future projects and the contribution of Alumnus for the betterment of the college. He appreciated the Alumnus for their support financially and other way for the college.
All the three Alumnus guests on the dais shared their experience during their college days and offered support for the college. Mrs Bharathi Suvarna recalled her college days. She opined that the social networks brought the old students together, earlier days it was very rare to meet the classmates but now it became very easy to meet the people. She thanked everyone for calling her as a guest to the programme. Very Rev Dr. Fr. Lawrence C D’Souza spoke his presidential address. Rice Kit Distribution : 02.05.2020
Milagres College Kallianpur: Alumni Association of the college, in association with IQAC has distributed Three Tons of Rice to the poor and needy families of the Kelarkalabettu, Mooduthonse and Paduthonse village panchayaths who have been suffered a lot due to the COVID -19. Many people of other states were also helped by the College. Mr Janardhan Thonse, Zilla Panchayath Member who was present on the occasion, appreciated the good work done by the college. The College in addition to providing the quality education, renders social service which is highly appreciable, he added. Very Rev Fr Dr Lawrence C D`Souza, the Correspondent of the Milagres Education Institutions blessed everyone and asked everyone to follow the directions of the government and should help the needy people of the society in this toughest situation of COVID 19. Mr Salvadore Noronha, President Alumni Association(R) delivered opening remarks and welcomed the gathering.

10 November 2018: The General Body Meeting
The General Body meeting of Milagres College Alumni Association was the Audio-Visual Hall of Milagres College Kallianpur. Dr. Vincent Alva, Principal of Milagres College and Hon. President of Alumni Association, President Mr. Salvadore Noronha, Vice-president Mr. Shekar Gujjarbettu and MrsLavina D’Souza, Secretary Mrs. Sophia Dias and Treasurer Mr. Joachim D’Souza were on the dais. The meeting started with the invoking of God’s blessings by Mrs Jovita Fernandes and Mrs. Lavina D’Souza. Mr. Salvadore Noronha, President of the Association welcomed the gathering. Mrs. Sophia Dias, Secretary presented a brief Report of the activities for the year 2017-18 and also read out the Minutes of the last General Body Meeting. The Minutes and the report were unanimously approved by the members. Mr. Joachim D’Souza, Treasurer placed the annual accounts for the year 2017-18 before the members of the Association which was approved.

04 November 2017: Annual General Meeting
The General Body meeting of Milagres College Alumni Association was held at 03:30 pm in the Audio – Visual Hall of Milagres College Kallianpur. 60 members attended the meeting. Mr. Vinay Allen Lewis, President welcomed the gathering and Mrs. Sophia Dias placed the previous Executive meeting report and the last General Body meeting report. Mr. Augustine Dias, Treasurer placed the annual accounts for the year 2016 – 2017.

Mr. Allen Vinay Lewis, out going President of the Association, thanked all the office bearers and members for their co – operation during his tenure as the President of the Association and requested their support in all future programmes. Dr. Vincent Alva, Principal of Milagres College expressed his pleasure in participating in the meeting and was happy to see the Junior and Senior members present in the meeting. He thanked the past President Mr. Allen Vinay Lewis for his active support during his term as President and he congratulated the new President Mr. Salvadore Noronha and all the newly elected office bearers. He said that the old students were the backbone of the college and was thankful to the association for supporting the college in all its activities. He said that it was because of the old students that the college has reached greater heights and requested the co – operation in all future activities of the college. He requested to start Alumni Groups in Bangalore, Dubai and other places which will strengthen the Alumni Association. Mr. Salvadore Noronha, President thanked Office Bearers, Staff Members and all the members of the Association.
20 September 2017: Executive Committee Meeting
The Executive Committee Meeting of Milagres College Alumni Association was held at 4.00 pm in the Audio Visual Hall of Milagres College, Kallianpur. 55 members were present for the meeting.
The Agenda for the Meeting was:
- Strengthening the Alumni
- Fixing the date for General Body Meeting
- Any other Matter.
Mr. Allen Lewis, President of the Alumni Association welcomed the gathering and Mrs. Sophia Dias, Secretary presented a brief report of the last meeting. Suggestions were invited to strengthening the Alumni Association. The Executive Committee members decided to hold the AGM on 04 November 2017 at 03:30 pm in the audio visual hall of the college. Mr. Sudhir Lewis suggested that every member should bring at least one member to attend the General Body Meeting to make it a grand success. It was decided to honour the retired staff members, rank students and achievers during the General Body Meeting. Mr. John Noronha suggested that Alumni Association could organize Talents Day and Family Day. Mr. Allen Lewis suggested to organize sports and picnic. The Principal, Dr. Vincent Alva in his remarks congratulated and expressed his happiness in seeing the old students in large numbers. He said that old students should keep in touch with the institution. He requested the old students to speak good about the institution as this itself is a good way of giving publicity to the institution. He said that the immediate outgoing students should involve themselves actively in the college activities to strength the association. He invited the old students to come batchwise to the college. He thanked all the members for the active participation in the meeting.

Hospital, Mangalore, Rotary Club Kallianpur, Sports Club Brahmavar, Sri Durgaparameshwari Temple, Mandarthi and Grama Panchayat, Heggunje organized a Medical Camp at Mandarthi at Sri. Durgaparameshwari High School, Mandarthi. Sri. Vittal Shetty, Member, Managing Committee of Sri. Durgaparameshwari Temple, Mandarthi inaugurated the Camp. Sri. Ganesh Shetty, President of Heggunje Panchayat presided over the function. Mr. Allan Lewis, President of Alumni Association, Dr. Gerald Pinto, Principal of Milagres Degree College, Smt. Savitha Kumari, Principal, Milagres P.U. College, Mr. Iqbal, President of Rotary Kallianpur, Sri. Chandrashekar Hegde, President of Brahmavar Sports Club, Sri. 13 September 2016: Blood Donation Camp
The blood donation camp was conducted by the N.S.S. volunteers in the audio – visual room. Rev. Fr. Dr. Prakash Anil Castelino, the Campus Director, inaugurated the programme. Dr. Gerald Pinto, Principal, was the president of the programme. Iqbal Mohammad Haji, President of Rotary Club, Udupi, Tolbert D’Souza, President of Lions Club, P. A. Bhat, Administrative Officer, Chauhan Institute of Para Medical College, Jaykar Shetty, Chairman, Indian Red Cross Society, Y. Seetharam Shetty, Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Shivram Shetty, Treasurer, Indian Red Cross Society were also present on this occasion. The Alumni Association participated in the Blood Donation Camp conducted by the College.

The Executive Committee Meeting was held in the Conference Hall of Milagres College. Alumni Association in collaboration with Students Welfare Council of the college and Rotary Club, Kallianpur observed Charity Day in the Audio Visual Hall of the college. Mrs. Poornima Janardhana spoke about the importance of charity. Dr. Nery Cornelio, Principal, presided over the programme.
